Holy moly, I guess I should probably post day 1 pics from our mini Portlandia foodie adventure from the beginning of the month. With an abundance of celebrations, and being sick (again. UGH), it’s been difficult to muster up the energy to get to blogging. I’ve also been prepping myself mentally as I started in a new role and sure enough, the start date was my birthday! If that’s not a good sign, I’m not sure what is. So please forgive as life has been sucking the life outta me, in the best way, of course!
Back to Portland.. What a beautiful city, even with random spikes of rain and 5 seconds of hail. It was the perfect time to escape and experience actual autumn with leaves turning color and the crisp cold air, slightly chilling to the bones. So I know we’re not suppose to be chasing waterfalls, but god damn, we did so anyways. Why? Because Multnomah Falls is breathtaking. If I could just sit in solitude without becoming a icicle or eventually get drenched by rain, trust, that is where you’ll find me.

Faux vs Real fur. Such a touchy subject, fur real (pun intended). Controversial without a perfect solution that wouldn’t offend either sides of this argument. One will argue even faking the idea of fur is condoning the idea of wearing an animal. I get it, I love animals and I believe that they should be treated fairly. Sadly, I will admit that I do fancy the luxuriousness of fur. I’m going to share with you some factors for consideration so you can draw your own conclusion about fur:
Faux fur – Allows similar look and feel for the fraction of the price and it’s animal friendly. This is don as the ‘greener’ option but personally, it is not considered a fully environmentally-friendly option. Faux fur is made of synthetic fibers so once it’s disposed, it will be but another non-biodegradable object in landfill. Also, many times faux fur is made of acrylic, which is carcinogenic for factory workers who work with this chemical in high heat, but we shall save that discussion for another day. Ultimately, it has been found that fake fur IS at least a few times better for the environment than buying real fur because the treatments and processes done to preserve actual fur are not necessary for fake fur.
Real fur – ‘The real deal’. I do own real fur; However, I will not buy ‘new’ fur. I refer to ‘new’ fur as fresh kill (sorry to be so graphic), available in stores. You are this animal’s first owner. That is a lot of commitment and responsibility; are you going to love that piece for the rest of your life?! View it as buying a pet, don’t stop loving it once it’s not ‘in season’ anymore. Personally, my moral way of purchasing real fur is thrifting. It’s like adopting your fur piece before it is unloved and sent to the landfill graveyard. This piece is now abandoned with a second chance to find a new owner who will care for it, the animal(s) lost it’s life, and you want real fur.
Sending you off with some food for thought and a little Miley face!

DVF blouse, Vintage D&G jeans, Vintage Gucci Purse, Aldo shoes, thrifted belt, thrifted gold chain bracelets
Haven’t worn this blouse in a while so decided to break out this top for a night out with my old roomies! The scrunching of the waist and the sleeves are so beautiful until you blow in the wind. Did I say you? I meant me. When this blouse blows in the wind, I can’t help but look like a walking golden balloon (attractive one though, right?). Aside from that, I personally adore the big puffy sleeves and pairing it with these high waisted D&G mom jeans; it’s how I feel dressy and casual at the same time. All Gold Errthang.
The circle-shaped Gucci purse holds a dear place in my heart. It belonged to my aunt and it was her very first designer bag purchase. I’m usually not a big fan for monogram print, but the beige g’s on white blends so well and is far from being obnoxiously overt. Paired with the tan leather trim, the color, and the great condition that it’s in, I fell in love when I received this. I haven’t came across an unique shape as this and it’s perfect to fit all my little necessities when I go out at night.
Let’s take a moment to remember the amazing persons that have served so honorably for us, and our country. Happy memorial day and hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend, as I did!
